Final vows in the Society of Jesus: Fr. Eduard Figueroa (Macoby), SJ.

On Thursday, July 30, 2026, Fr. Eduard Figueroa (Macoby), SJ, professed his final vows in the Society of Jesus.

With them, he definitively renews his religious consecration and his willingness to serve in “the frontiers, right where he is most needed and where no one wants to go.”.

At the Eucharist celebrated in Santo Domingo, he was accompanied by his Jesuit brothers from the Dominican Republic and the English-speaking Caribbean, family members, friends, as well as laypeople and collaborators from Guachupita, La Ciénaga, and Los Guandules who shaped his journey during the years he lived and worked in the neighborhoods, fostering evangelizing, social, and artistic work. 

During the celebration, Fr. Martin Lenk, SJ, reflected in his homily on the great diversity of the Caribbean Province, which today brings together Jesuits from 17 different countries (22 if including brothers in formation). “Passionate love for Christ must be what unites us, and what invites us to a common mission, a mission that we share in the Caribbean,” he noted.

Father Eduard (Macoby) lived for 13 years in Los Guandules, Santo Domingo, where he carried out intense evangelizing work as well as social and artistic promotion in the neighborhoods. He is currently on a mission in Cuba, from where he traveled to profess his final vows.
