Our Culture, Our Faith, Our Journey

By S. José Javier Rodríguez, S.J.

Nearly 300 young people from various communities in Rupununi and South Pakaraima enthusiastically participated in the 2026 Catholic Youth Convention, held from March 27 to 30 in Potarinau Village, Region #9, Rupununi.

The event, under the theme “Our Culture, Our Faith, Our Journey,” was organized and led by Fr. Edwin Anthony, S.J., and featured the collaboration of scholastics Rigoberto Martínez, S.J., Javier Rodríguez, S.J., and Cris Primo, S.J., as well as dedicated laypeople from the Diocese of Georgetown.

During these days, the youth had the opportunity to learn, pray, and reflect on the richness of their culture and the depth of the Catholic faith. Additionally, they participated in formative sessions on nutrition, mental and physical health, among other topics; these were complemented by moments of recreation, artistic activities, and cultural expressions that strengthened fraternity and community spirit among the participants.

We give thanks to God for every young person, for every moment shared, and for the seeds sown in their hearts.
