Garrido Foundation: boosting the future of Dominican youth
Garrido Foundation: boosting the future of Dominican youth
In Quisqueya, there are young people with talent, discipline, and a desire to get ahead, but whose financial resources are not enough to continue their studies or access better job opportunities. For this reason, the Society of Jesus in the Dominican Republic has partnered with the Garrido Foundation to offer them a supportive educational loan under extremely favorable conditions.
Garrido Foundation has a fund dedicated to training programs that contribute to both personal and national development, and has entrusted its administration to the Society of Jesus. The fund covers technical trades, technical degrees, undergraduate degrees, and even postgraduate studies.
To access the loan, the only requirement is to demonstrate academic ability and commitment. Among its main benefits are:
- Grace period: The student does not pay while pursuing their studies.
- Interest rate well below market rate.
- Extended payment term.
- Direct disbursement to the corresponding educational institution.
The initiative was born from a simple yet profound conviction: money should not be the reason a talented young person is left without an education. It is not a donation, but rather a solidarity-based educational loan, and therein lies its uniqueness: when the young person pays back what they received, that very same money opens the door for another young person who dreams of studying. Thus, a chain of opportunities is woven where each generation propels the next.
With this conviction, we open the call for applications, hoping to continue supporting more Dominican youth on the path to their dreams.
