By P. Elkin Ariel Tejeda, SJ

From August 3 to 7, the Meeting of Directors of Jesuit University and Educational Radio Stations of Latin America and the Caribbean was held in Cali, Colombia. These radio stations belong to the CPAL Jesuit Radio Network, within their respective sub-networks.

Around 20 representatives from regional radio stations participated to reflect together on the current challenges and tasks facing this medium. In addition, best practices and experiences were shared, seeking to strengthen the work that each does in their own context.

From the Caribbean province, Fr. Ariel Tejeda, SJ, subdirector of Radio Marién, participated on behalf of Fr. Aquiles Ozuna, SJ, coordinator of the Jesuit Radio Network of the Dominican Republic and director of Radio Marién and Radio Santa María.

Fr. Rafael Garrido, president of the CPAL, accompanied the first days of the meeting, insisting on the establishment of relations between the radio network and the other CPAL networks, with the purpose of achieving a greater reach in their joint work. In addition, Adriana Cárdenas, assistant to Fr. Garrido for education and executive secretary of the Latin American Federation of Jesuit Schools (FLACSI), participated.

The meeting was a conducive space to continue strengthening collaborative work and mutual understanding of the realities experienced in this shared territory.
