Dominican Republic. More than 200 migrants and descendants of migrants participated in a Legal Assistance and Guidance Day held on June 20 and 21 in communities in the province of Valverde.
The initiative was organized by the Jesuit Migrant Service Dominican Republic (SJM-RD), in coordination with the organization Yspaniola, with the support of Manos Unidas and American Jewish World Service (AJWS), with the objective of providing legal guidance on documentation, migratory regularization processes, and access to fundamental rights.
Within the framework of the event, and on the occasion of International Refugee Day, SJM-RD presented the campaign “Paths of Hospitality”, under the slogan “Hospitality opens the door to peace.”, an initiative that promotes the welcoming, solidarity, and inclusion of people forced to migrate.
This journey reaffirms the commitment of the participating organizations to continue providing legal orientation services and strengthening access to rights for migrants, especially in communities with higher levels of vulnerability.
